Exam Question: How is media language used on the covers to make the reader either mistrust or trust the Conservative Party?
Firstly, their is a clear difference in the views of the two newspaper covers, and there is a clear difference in their trust in the Conservative Party. The Daily Mirror are clear supporters of Labour and the Daily Mail are clear supporters of the Conservative Party.
A clear difference in the two newspapers are the main images. In the Daily Mirror, the main images contains multiple images of working class, homeless and struggling people. This is an index sign that signifies that the Daily Mail are trying to get people to support Labour and not trust the Conservative Party as a part of Labour's manifesto to help the working class extremely. On the other hand, the main image of the Daily Mail contains a low angle shot of a Middle Class female dressed very well. This is an index sign that signifies that the Daily Mail is trying to get you to vote and trust the Conservatives, as they powering people with money, which is an assumption made about the Conservatives, that they are a more middle class party. Another difference in the two covers is the Lexis of the stories
